I am formally from Auckland now living in Northland. I have completed a Diploma in visual arts. Love Rockabilly, Rock and Roll and Swing 1940's dance styles. I love fashions that cover all those syles as well and like to design & make clothes to suit.
This photo is a little over exposed on one side . A stylised painting of my family 10 acre block up at Mangawhai., - land now sold and painting sold also. This tryptich is the largest work I have done todate.
Wow!! This is fantastic Helen ... watching these 'planets' emerge and evolve is like watching a graceful dance ... a lovely visual experience and the music is perfectly suited to the images. A fabulous piece of work, well done!!! :)H
Met up with Gail Eustace after not seeing her since we were 16. Still out clubing it !

Carl Sagan 1934 - 1996
was born in Brooklyn, New York. Although he held a doctorate in Astrophysics, he had the capability to convey his ideas so many people were able to understand the cosmos, through his 13 part television series 'Cosmos , A Personal Voyage'. This is just a beautiful interlude and a humbling thought for all of us.
2005 1st year Diploma of visual arts
Because I am fascinated with the 'cosmos' I chose to make a short production, which ended up comprising of 61 still frames set to some of my favourite music. The idea behind this is about the cycle of all life forms.
I started by capturing a photo of some pieces of mirror which I had taped together while investigating the principles of the kaleidoscope. I really liked the image which I have labelled image 1,2,& 3. The top image being the originating image.by colouring this image and applying it to a modelled sphere, I have endeavoured to bring it to life in the form of this production. I hope you enjoy it.

amazing what you can do with mirrors
Nikau berries - Oil / wax on board 2004 ( 600 x 800mm )
This is really an uncompleted work. I got to a stage where I just stopped. It was an exerciese of rubbing oil paint on with a cloth and then using wax crayons on top. I like it just the way it is and don't feel the need to do anymore to it. I suppose a work is finished when you feel like that.
'detail'
Fossil series 2004 continued, Tryptich
An extension of ideas, casting shapes and modeling these panels. Painting in detail and finally using resin to incapsulate
the forms. Exhibited at Woodards Gallery November 2004 "SOLD"
Fossil series - Paintings with Texture (metalic acrylic's on board )- 2004
I was inspired by a fascination with beautiful shells which led to an even better fascination with fossils which in turn led me to produce these pieces, Texture, shape, form and luminousity. Thinking about life evolving from the sea. I particularly liked the ammonite (most people's favourite) 'SOLD'
I prefer this piece to the left to be hung vertically.
I gifted this to a very special person - Thank you Erin.
Earlier works - 2003 Acrylic on canvas (300x250mm)
This was the first time I had worked in acrylic's. I had previously only worked with oils and had never really thought I would be able to manipulate acrylic paint as much as oil paint - I was wrong.
